Hi, I’m Raymond. Currently, I'm a research director and freelance graphic designer based in Orange County. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Literary Journalism from the University of California, Irvine, and I specialize in writing in AP Style. My focus is on reviewing movies, shows, fashion, music, and video games. I’m passionate about exploring and expressing every facet of my creativity.

Exploring Western movie tropes and film culture has deeply enriched my storytelling perspective as an East Asian American. Growing up, films were my gateway to understanding Western pop culture and the entertainment industry. In my writing, I aim to uncover the niche and often hidden conversations around each project and analyze the public discourse it generates. My unique background allows me to blend curiosity with confusion to delve into the intricate workings of the film and media world, lending an introspective and human touch to my storytelling.

As a graphic designer, my style is calculated, nostalgic, and camp. My journey began at age seven on an old HP desktop, creating graphics for virtual friends on Wattpad during the fan fiction boom. In high school, I started redesigning movie posters, evolving my style from traditional aesthetics to a more playful approach, characterized by geometric shapes and bold typography. I describe my design aesthetic as a mix of 2000s Hollywood movie billboards, band graphic t-shirts, and the muted colors of a mushroom trip that once were vibrant. I’m determined to continue expanding my style. I want to experiment with product marketing and apparel design. No more Marvel floating head posters, please!
